Starting and finishing at Rex Smeal Park, the Douglas Dash is a 5km run taking in the magnificent Four Mile Beach and then through the cross country terrain of the Flagstaff Hill walking trail. There is no more magical part of the world at the start time of 7am and the uninterrupted running experience on offer is world class.
Times will be recorded and bragging rights on the line.

Dream State Entertainment will be your hosts for the beach activites. These wonderful performers who have dazzled audiences around the world will run a range of fun activities on the beach as well as a special show not to be missed.
Featuring an amazing sky diving display with skydivers taking off from the beach and helicoptered up to the clouds, then landing back on the beach. GBR Helicopters will be doing 2 displays as part of the entertainment .
Dig deep in the Sand and join in on the Sand Sculpting Competition with amazing prizes up for grabs donated by the local traders. Registration is from 9 am and open to all and judging from 2 pm with free entry, why wouldn’t you get involved. Don’t forget your spade!
Salsa in the sand will be a fun activity for all ages as Jose from the Sabor dance school takes a Salsa class right on the beach with Latin music and a fun Carnivale vibe .
Plus face painting, kids activities, markets stalls, beautiful kite displays, beach hockey and more.
Giving new meaning to the saying “Go Fly A Kite”, the Team from Kites QLD bring their huge Kites to 4 mile beach as part of the Family Beach day on Saturday 22nd May.
Bringing a 7 person strong team of expert Kite fliers to a beach famous for its wide open space and steady breezes is a match made in the heavens and the Kites QLD team have a special guest making his FNQ debut. All ages will be amazed and “Blown Away” by Steve-o, the 27 m Crocodile Kite that has to be seen to be believed, as well as an astounding 55 m snake kite. The sky will be filled with movement and colour and we are so grateful that Kites QLD are joining us for another year. Even their youngest member who is 8 years old, will have an amazing array of airborne acrobats, dancing on the wind.
We encourage everyone to come down for the day and experience the magic of these giants of the sky themselves as they brig a sense of wonder and awe to people of all ages.
