Michael is the Head Yoga Teacher & Senior Massage Specialist of Deep Yoga Studio. Michael oversees the Yoga Program & Deep Massage & Bodywork Experiences at The Deep Retreat.
Michael & his team are all fully qualified Yoga Teachers & Massage Therapists with some specialized in Yoga, Stretch Therapy, Naturopathy & Kahuna Massage

Most of our Yoga Classes are BEGINNER FRIENDLY with some that are suitable for ADVANCED Yogis.
In keeping with tradition, all dynamic heated yoga classes are taught in the mornings with more introspective, cooling calming classes in the evenings
Most of our regular classes are infused with traditional Ayurvedic Philosophy.
Ayurveda is the Mother of Yoga & its wisdom is over 5000 years old.
We incorporate the teachings of Deepak Chopra, as taught at the Chopra Centre in the USA.
We will share inspirations from his books Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Perfect Health, Reinventing The Body, Resurrecting The Soul & the 24 Yoga Sutras via The Upanishads.
These philosophical ‘infusions’ are imparted in our Guided Relaxations that feature at the beginning & end of each class.
DEEP YOGA STUDIO is a peaceful, beautifully designed space with welcoming pass options for visitors & tourists to the area!
The real benefits of yoga are only experienced with consistent practice, and so our pricing encourages practice 2 to 3 times per week during your stay.

We recommend all visitors staying for 5 days or more to consider a 4 Class Yoga Pass. This Pass represents great value & inspires you to enjoy a Yoga Class each day so that you can maximise your holiday experience. Our 8 Class Yoga Pass is for long term visitors staying for 10 days or more. This pass ensures you develop a consistent, sustainable Yoga Practice you can incorporate into your daily life.

We also have a fully equipped Bathhouse with Steamroom / Sauna & Warm Bath.

OUR STYLE

We offer a safe, non judgmental & nurturing space for you to explore & get back into your body.

You will notice a base, common structure to all our classes. We always begin in Savasana, then Pranayama, Asana then a return to Savasana to integrate the changes we have made in our body & mind. This sequence can then be carried through into you daily life in a much shorter version.

All classes are beginner friendly however if you are seeking something extremely challenging your teacher can certainly get you there safely.

In every class we always say that there is no such thing as the perfect pose. Everyone has their own perfect expression of each Asana & we will meet you wherever you are at.

HOW WE WORK

In keeping with tradition, SLOWflow, PILATES + SLOWflow & WARM FLOW YOGA should always be done in the morning. This is a time to rev up your engines for the day & ride that high for the rest of the day. Evenings should be reserved for more introspective practices such as YIN stretch YOGA & Tai Chi

What to bring
Clothes you can sweat and move in — leggings or shorts and a tank top
AERIAL YOGA requires knees & arms covered & absolutely NO JEWELLERY.
A bottle of water
Mats are provided.
Bring LARGE towel or sarong to cover mat with.
A bath or beach towel to cover your Yoga Mat
Don’t eat for 1 hour before class
Be well hydrated

YIN stretch YOGA, Tai Chi & SLOWflow (non heated) are totally beginner friendly.

PILATES + SLOWflow & WARM FLOW YOGA (heated) is suitable for most people if they are willing to listen to their bodies. Keep in mind it ca be a dynamic exercise some classes in a room heated up to 30˚C at about 50% humidity.

AERIAL YOGA is very strenuous & requires a lot of strength. Much of Aerial Yoga in enjoyed upside down in inversions.
Unfortunately you cannot participate in these particular prclasses if you currently are or have experienced the following (see below).

ETIQUETTE

Doors OPEN 15 minutes before class.
Arrive at least 10 minutes before class, as there is no late admittance
Doors locked 5 minutes before class.
Check in at reception for all classes
Observe silence in the yoga room
No personal belongings in the yoga room other than water and towel. There are boxes in the change rooms for valuables or at reception for larger items
No phones in the yoga room.
Listen carefully to the teacher’s instructions
You may lie down at any time to take rest. We LOVE it when you do because your body needs it.

Mini Sento Steamroom / Sauna & Bath

Enjoy 20 minutes soaking in our Sento Bath, Steamroom / Sauna. after your early morning Yoga Class Tuesday to Fridays. Set time of 8:30am.
(Relaxation Yoga Studio, Hammocks & Meditation Mats not accessible)
You can use your Casual, 4 & 8 Class Pass towards this.
