Eco Fashion Week 2018 Queensland
Perth-based Australian Eco fashion designer/visual artist Zuhal Kuvan-Mills of Green Embassy has taken her passion for slow fashion to a new level with the creation of the Eco Fashion Week Australia.
Now on its 2nd year this November, the eco-focused event is expanding to the opposite sides of Australia, taking place in Queensland from the 4th of November – 10th of November, as well as in Western Australia from the 15th of November – 21st of November.
Kuvan-Mills is the founder, visual artist and creator behind handmade organic haute couture label Green Embassy and organic textile maison Atelier Zuhal. Next, she is setting her sights on promoting and showcasing sustainable artists and designers on a global level.
Eco Fashion Week Australia will collaborate with the designers, artists, activists, community, media, businesses and educational programs, as well as the local Governments, to raise awareness for environmentally conscious fashion in Australia with global level. The initiative she has taken to implement Australia’s first and very own Eco fashion celebration strike a chord with designers, fashionistas and media alike.
This innovative, forward-thinking event will feature, exclusive informative discussions, exhibitions, hands-on workshops and incredible runway shows showcasing the best in organic, hand made, local, re/up cycled fair-trade, ethical fashion, traditional, and textiles.
The goal is to ignite and inspire attendees to change their perspective on fashion. EFWA will present only the most creative, artistic and beautiful sustainable designs. This is crucial, considering that the fashion industry is one of the largest polluters worldwide, not to mention one of the least ethical. EFWA and Kuvan-Mills seek to prove that Eco fashion can be just as stylish as its fast fashion counterpart, while remaining socially and environmentally responsible.
Sustainable is the new black, and with Australia’s first and biggest International Eco designer runway, EFWA will address this wholeheartedly. The event will collaborate with universities, TAFE and schools for student designers providing showcases and student awards. EFWA will be a unique balance of inspiring fashion coupled with essential education.
International Eco Fashion Week Australia (EFWA) is partnering/supporting Sea Shepherd Australia and Rainforest Rescue conservation organizations and destined to be the world’s newest classroom for slow fashion education, promising an avant-garde, and awe-inspiring spectacular debut!
