Rainforestation Nature Park has formed a partnership with UMI Arts to support the development of local indigenous artists, with the launch of the inaugural Pamagirri Art Market.
Scheduled for this Sunday 22nd November 2020 at Rainforestation, the event aims to support emerging indigenous artists seeking a path to market themselves and their artwork.
Rainforestation Sales Development Manager Cherie Glare said she was thrilled with how many artists have expressed interest in the event and hopes the Cairns community comes to show support.
“We have established this event to provide artists with a platform to show and share their work with a willing audience. So it is fantastic to see so many local artists respond.”
“We have secured a really diverse mix of indigenous artists who will be selling both traditional and contemporary works. We have a children’s author, fashion, jewellery, pottery, artefacts, weaving, cards, paintings and a lot of other things. This is a great opportunity to get the family together for a day out and to pick up some Christmas Gifts.
“We are excited for the inaugural event and hope it becomes a regular event on the Cairns Calendar which will be dependent on the local community to come out in force and support these local artists,” she said.
