Tandem Paragliding Flights at Wangetti Beach, between Cairns & Port Douglas

Skip the cliff-jumping and instead feel yourself gently lifted into the sky in a smooth and unique beach take-off.
Fly with the birds up to 1,000ft and soak in breath-taking panoramic views of the tropical coastline from rainforest to reef.
Opt for some exhilarating aerobatics or simply enjoy gliding peacefully through the sky.
After 15-20mins of flying, land gracefully back on the beach; a soft and gentle return to earth after your sky-high adventure.

When Can I Book?

Tandem paragliding flights at Wangetti Beach are back for September 2024!
From 6th September – 25th September, book your time slot between 12 pm and 5 pm daily.

Paragliding Location

Wangetti Beach, at the end of Wangetti Beach Road. It’s a 2-minute drive from Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures and Rex Lookout, a 30-minute drive from Port Douglas, and a 40-minute drive from Cairns. Car parking is available.

Weather Considerations

Tandem flights are weather dependent so there may be delays or changes to your flight if weather conditions are unsuitable for flying. We kindly ask for your patience, understanding and flexibility should this situation arise – the weather is out of our control and your safety is our top priority.

Transport

Optional FREE return transport is available from Cairns City, Trinity Beach and Palm Cove.

Morning pick-up: Suitable for tandem flights at 12pm, 12:30pm, 1pm, 1:30pm, 2pm. Pick-up times and locations are noted below. Return departure from Wangetti Beach will be around 3pm.

Cairns City – 10:45am – Gilligan’s (89 Grafton Street)
Cairns City – 10:50am – Opposite Reef Hotel Casino (34 Esplanade)
Cairns City – 10:55am – Double Tree by Hilton (121-123 Esplanade)
Trinity Beach – 11:10am (call to request pick-up location)
Palm Cove – 11:20am (call to request pick-up location)

Afternoon pick-up: Suitable for tandem flights at 2:30pm, 3pm, 3:30pm, 4pm, 4:30pm. Pick-up times and locations are noted below. Return departure from Wangetti Beach will be around 5:30pm.

Booking is required – please choose the relevant pick-up option and pick-up time/location when making your booking. Failure to do so may result in transport being unavailable. You must arrive at your pick-up point 10 minutes before the meet time to avoid missing your transport.

If arranging your own transport, please arrive arrive early to ensure you don’t miss your flight time. We suggest allowing at least 60 – 90 minutes from your scheduled booking time to allow for documentation, pre-flight briefing, possible weather-related delays and actual flying time. Missed transportation due to weather is not eligible for compensation.

What To Wear / Bring

Wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the weather conditions on the day. Perhaps a long-sleeved top or light jacket as it may be cooler at higher altitudes.
Wear enclosed footwear (e.g. running shoes).
We recommend wearing sunglasses and applying sunscreen.

Video & Photos

Personal cameras and phones are not permitted during the flight.
A video package is available. If your booking does not include a video, you have the option of adding a video on the day of your flight when you check in (incurs additional fee).
Friends and family are welcome to come along and take photos and videos of your flight preparation, launch and landing.

Passenger Requirements

Minimum age is 11 years. (No maximum age limit!)
Weight range for paragliding is between 30-120kg.
Basic fitness and good general health are required for safety.
Passengers are required to walk up to 300m along the beach (3-5mins) to get to the launch area. Then on take-off, passengers are required to walk briskly for approximately 4 – 5 steps.
All passengers must sign a Sports Aviation Federation of Australia (SAFA) insurance waiver. Passengers under age 18 must have a parent/guardian to sign the insurance waiver on their behalf. Refusing to complete the waiver will result in cancellation of the flight and no refund will be given.
Not accessible for wheelchair users.
Not suitable for pregnant women.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule your flight, at least 24 hours’ notice is required.
If you cancel your flight within 24 hours of your flight time, your payment will be forfeited.
If we cannot fly due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule your flight free of charge.
