Mates Helping Mates Bushfire Appeal

Australia Day, Sunday January 26th 12pm to 4pm, Port Douglas Sporting Ground – Wharf Street.

Proudly hosted by What’s On In Port, Port Douglas Crocs AFL Football Club, NQ Homes Tropical Living Muddies Cricket Club followed by an after party at the Port Douglas Yacht Club.

There will be entertainment galore on the day!

  • A 20/20 cricket tournament hosted by the Muddies Cricket Club, sponsored by Port Douglas Concrete
  • A Lamington eating contest sponsored by Grant Street Kitchen
  • A thong tossing competition sponsored by Paradise Pilates at Plantation
  • A Three legged race sponsored by the Central Hotel and Courthouse Hotel
  • A wheel barrow race sponsored by LJ Hooker Port Douglas
  • An egg and spoon race for the kiddies sponsored by Sportspower Port Douglas
  • A sausage sizzle sponsored by Mossman Butcher
  • Multiple prizes to be raffled and silent auction all donated locally

There will be a Community Garage Sale on the day, from goods donated locally. Any goods donated on the day MUST BE DELIVERED BY 10am on the day.

The Port Douglas Yacht Club is hosting an after party from 4pm with bands, tasty meals and $1 per beer sold donated to the bushfire appeal.

Come on down for great fun family day out and support our mates Australia wide struggling from the impact of these horrendous fires.

Where is it all going?

If you wish to donate financially, please deposit to:

Proceeds from the event will go to the Bendigo Bank National Bushfire Appeal, Foodbank and be distributed to those impacted by the bushfires. No admin or fees are deducted from these donations.


Toiletries – soap, shampoo, deodorant, moisturiser, brushes, sanitary items, toothpaste & brushes

Baby – nappies, wipes, creams

Bedding – mattresses (inflatable) sheets, blankets, pillows

Bathroom – toilet paper, towells

First aid – band aids, gauze, burn creams, eye wash etc

Food – non-perishable. Cans, baby food, water, packaged meals (non-refrigerated), UHT milk

Pets – beds, dog food, cat food, livestock feed, pet carriers/cages

Gift cards – coles, target, kmart etc for food and clothing

Any bedding that is not fit for humans but suitable for pets is also required for the wildlife, and any expired medical supplies such as eyewash, saline, gauzes, bandages, creams etc. This will all go direct to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures for their collection.

If you are donating goods for the Garage Sales on the 26th of January that you cannot drop off or are too large, please get in touch with us to arrange collection.

We must stress again that any items for sale or donations MUST BE CLEAN with no damage, holes, stains etc.

We are NOT collecting rags.

All donations count – even a packet of bandaids or a bottle of shampoo will make the difference.
