Top ten things to do for FREE in Port Douglas

When they say ‘The best things in life are FREE’ they are if you come to Port Douglas! We’ve compiled a list of the top ten things to do for FREE in Port Douglas, and all are child friendly. They are in no particular order as follows:

Number One:

The Port Douglas Historical Society

Number Two:

Yoga and smiles with Wolfy

Yoga & Smiles returns to Port Douglas
It’s gonna be a fantastic year friends with new classes.

Tues, Thurs and Sat
7 am Intermediate Level Power Yoga. Main Beach between the lifeguard and the rocks. Physically challenging Yoga to detox and energize your entire system. With big smiles.
9 am Beginner’s Level Yoga & Qigong. Rex Smeal Park. A gentle class to balance, harmonise and rejuvenate your body mind and spirit. Feeling fantastic. All classes are Free

Number Three:

See the whole of Port Douglas including Four Mile Beach from the highest perspective! The Flagstaff Hill Walking Trail has just been reopened after part of it was washed away in our wet season this year. Spectacular views and photo opportunities galore await you! Number Four:

Seeing as we’ve already mentioned Four Mile Beach, it makes the list as one of THE most amazing beaches in Far North Queensland. You can fill your day with activities or pull up a deck chair and relax! You’ll find action with segways, kite surfing and stand-up paddle boards, or you can BYO chair/beach towel and watch the world go by.

Number Five:

Mossman Pump Track

Is the ONLY Crocodile-shaped bike track in the southern hemisphere! You’ll find this and an all-abilities playground in the scenic town of Mossman – only 20 km from Port Douglas, and with Mossman Gorge right next door you can make a day of it! There is plenty of cafes to grab a picnic lunch and enjoy!

Number Six:

If you’re looking for the most amazing sunset, you can’t go past Rex Smeal Park. Complete with bbq, picnic tables, playground and amenities block, it is an awesome place to hang out for the day! Watch the boats go by as you laze about or take a jog or even bust out some yoga! Whatever you choose you will be glad you did.

Number Seven:

Bargain hunters rejoice! There are Markets galore in FNQ and the Douglas Shire has a great selection! Wednesdays have the Marina Markets from 12-5 pm, Saturdays have the Mossman Markets and Sundays have the Port Douglas Markets on the foreshore! Each has its own unique twist and all have amazing homegrown/made goodies to tempt you!

Number Eight:

For the fitness buffs, the Mowbray National Park (Bump Track) is situated just outside Port Douglas and features some spectacular scenery and walking/bike trails! Do part or all of the track and you will see our beautiful rainforest landscape from a different perspective!

Number Nine:

History lovers and anyone interested in how Port Douglas came to be, can wander through the Court House Museum and reflect on days gone by. Displays from when Port Douglas was a gold town through to the only woman hanged in Queensland, there’s something for everyone!

Number Ten:

Think you’ve got what it takes for Australia’s Got Talent? Strut ya stuff and hit the stage! Wednesdays are an open mic at the Plantation Resort (family-friendly) and Thursday nights are musos night at The Central Hotel!
